An extract of bitter herbs – not a “bitter pill” for our digestion!
An extract from bitter herbs
Amaro Vida combines fresh spring water and an herbal extract from 14 different bitter plants to create naturally produced drops of bitter herbs.
Bitter aroma – no bitter feeling
Admittedly, a bitter taste is not usually love at first sight. Especially not nowadays, when bitter substances have largely been bred out of our food. Originally very bitter vegetables such as endive, radicchio, chicory or kale hardly taste bitter today. We are no longer used to the bitter taste and therefore don’t like it, at least not straight away. However, we can get our taste buds used to the almost lost flavor again and develop a new love for bitterness.

Which substances taste bitter?
The substances that taste bitter to us are chemically completely different. They are sometimes also referred to as bitter substances. [loggedin]These may be secondary plant substances with which the respective plant protects itself from predators, for example. [/loggedin]Many toxins in plants have a high bitter value, which is why certain bitter plants are inedible or even poisonous for humans and animals. [loggedin]Others, however, have always been used for their beneficial properties to maintain good health and well-being.[/loggedin]
The modern industrial diet contains significantly fewer bitter substances compared to a diet that was common centuries ago.
