vegetarian

Vegetarian (adjective) / Vegetarianism originally refers to a human diet and lifestyle in which, in addition to foods of plant origin, only such products are consumed, or differences can be seen in the inclusion of foods derived from living animals, such as eggs, milk and honey. Vegetarianism is not limited to a vegetarian cuisine, but is also understood as a world view and alternative way of life. All forms of vegetarian nutrition are based on vegetable food, whereby fungi and products from bacterial cultures are also accepted.

Plant-based foods can imitate meat dishes – for example burgers

The ovo-lacto-vegetarian diet also includes bird eggs, egg products, milk and dairy products from mammals. Vegetarians also differ in the consistency with which they adhere to their principles. Only some vegetarians take this into account in their buying and eating habits. Frutarians strive for a diet with exclusively vegetable products that do not result in damage to the plant itself.

These include fruit and nuts as parts of plants that are botanically classified as fruits or seeds. For example, the consumption of a carrot entails the destruction of this single plant and is therefore incompatible with the frutarian diet. In apples, these concerns do not arise because harvesting and eating an apple does not harm the apple tree itself. B. Clothing made of leather, fur, silk or wool, jewellery made of horn or ivory and animal organ transplants or hormones, and may even refuse to be kept as pets and used as riding or pack animals.
